They broke my brain.

Uh...
First, foremost, and above all - WTF WITH LEE?!?!?!
I can totally buy that he gave up after they "settled down" on New Caprica. Totally bought that he'd put on weight after such, because of said giving up. They took his wings away, dude. Heading a Battlestar is just not the frakking same as flying a damn Viper, ESPECIALLY if you're also suddenly in "peacetime". Yeah. Plus whatever the frak happened between him and Kara. So I totally get Depressed!Lee.
It's after they run from New Caprica I don't get it. (And frankly, while I know you can put on that kind of weight in a year, I think someone should totally bitch-slap the prosthetics/makeup department. Overkill people. No one buys the Stay-puff Marshmallow Man. Dude. It was gratuitous.)
I see Lee's reaction to leaving the colonists two-fold, especially considering who's still down there. And I don't *just* mean Kara, although she's certainly part of it. Roslin's down there too. Lots of people he cares about are. People he knows - not just people he feels responsible for. I can see him struggling with a decision not to go back, and I can see him ultimately deciding to take the stance he does, that humanity has to continue, and they need to run with who they have. But it wouldn't be as "easy" for him as it looks here. It wouldn't be so very "obviously we should do this" as he presents it. Maybe it's because we skipped another four months, but I doubt it. I think that this was just an example of bad writing. Which you know, they only have maybe once a season, so I suppose I should cut them some slack. Sigh. Doesn't mean I have to like that this is in canon now. (In particular, the scene in quarters with Dee pisses me the fuck off. Total character assasination.)
PapAdama: On the flip side - BRILLIANT character work here - though I agree with
serendipityxxi regarding the "Pornstache" as she dubbed it. Man, shave. But I loved every bit of his reactions, frustrations, and determinations. Also, loved his decision re: Sharon. (And that somewhere along the way he agreed to let them get married. What do you bet Helo's living in the Brig now and not Pilot's quarters? Love.)
BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS TELL ME WE'RE NOT GOING TO SPEND THE WHOLE FRAKKING SEASON WITH A SPLIT UP FLEET! I HATE THAT!
Kara:

::whimpers::
Oh, she's gonna be a handful when she gets back in the fleet. And I mean Kara. (Though I've wholeheartedly embraced the term "PopTart" for Casey (anyone know if it's with a "c" or a "k"?) (Also from
serendipityxxi - you really must go check out her Alphabetical run down of the eps).
Gods, they're breaking her.
Cally:
Total love. She's kind of mesmerizing to watch really, and just loads of fun. I was absolutely terrified for her after the webisodes and some of the trailers (the shots of her in the night vision being dragged out of her tent and her running in the woods.) - I was terrified they were going to kill Nicholas. Still am, though not as much as I was. Adore that he was dedicated to Apollo and Aries. (They seem to generally pick two gods for each person/child. Yes, I loved the webisodes because I'm trying to analyze their culture and religion. Have you met me before?)
Tigh:
Has gone off the frakking deep end, and though he has several valid points, he's COMPLETELY lost his direction and the point. I even understand why, but it doesn't mean that he shouldn't be stopped. But have I mentioned how much I love that they're *going* there? That they're not afraid to deal with this all across the spectrum?
Laura:
Is. Amazing. And they did FABULOUS stuff with her. Everything from how she comported herself during her imprisonment and discussion with Baltar, to teaching when they came in to arrest her, to slapping the shit out of Tigh. She just frakking rocks the house.
Gaeta:
Adored. I feel awful for him, and I damn well hope that everyone (by which I mean the humans, as I don't want the Cylons to kill him, thanks) finds out he was their "source". Loved the run through the camp, it hurts like hell that he was too late, but I'm honestly not sure, even if Tyrol had gotten the note if Duck would've backed off. But much love for Gaeta.
Helo:
Lovely as XO. Loved him with Sharon... and do I get the impression that he doesn't quite entirely trust her either? Not that he doesn't want to, maybe, but maybe that he knows she might have to fight things like programming. Sigh. Gods it's going to mess them both up when they find out Hera's alive.
Baltar:
Hate. Just sayin'. But in a beautiful way. Excellent acting and writing. Kudos to James Callis.
And now I have to go to work.
And work on fics that have a completely different take on all this, since they were started before I saw it. (Though I am thinking about going back through "Eris" and just editing Nicholas's name, which I previously had as "Evan". Not a big change, just the name, cause it would make more sense.) But yeah.
I'm terrified of what's to come. OMGS.

Date: 2006-10-09 03:39 am (UTC)And you definitely need to make one w/ "embodiment of entropy" with Kara holding her way far out from her *L*
Funny how we didn't think of hurting the kid to have Kara bond with her at all while working on teh fic.
