So, I know many of you ([personal profile] celli , [personal profile] ladysorka , [personal profile] icepixie ) use Dreamwidth along with (or instead of) Livejournal.  I am intrigued by this process, and want to learn more.  I have read the overview FAQ at Dreamwidth, but I still don't understand exactly how the two sites do or can interact.  Does anyone have advice/tips/explanations and so forth that would be helpful?

I went and had about two years of having to deal with the world offline, and all of fandom has changed (the sites, etc.) and I am a bit confused.

So I'm trying to decide what to do about the things I made for people back when I was in LegendLand.  I kind of hate to just pull that stuff off the web, but I'm trying to reorganize everything, and want to move it off of Flickr.  Is anyone still participating?  Do those pages and entries even still exist?

I have two questions, come to think of it.

First, how do you, my bestest flist, save fanfic that you like? Do you just bookmark it and trust that it will still be there on the morrow? Or is there some way in which you web-clip it to somewhere so that you can read it whenever? What options do I have there?

Second, I have a Droid, and need an LJ client that shows my flist. This is now the primary way that I get online, and the "offical" client is strictly a post upload program. Bonus points if it's Free.

Is anyone still out there reading this? I know I've been gone a *really* long time. I want desperately to get back into blogging, but I just haven't figured out where and how and all that good frustrating stuff...

Dear Yuletide Author,

First of all, thank you thank you thank you! I am SO excited and looking forward to this whole process. :) (The first part I cribbed off of my letter last year, but I figure, why reinvent the wheel, you know?)

In general, I like 'shippy stuff, and witty banter, and have a particular love of thick and heavy UST (depending on the couple, and how much that fits their personality, of course.) My biggest sticking point/wish is that characters be in character or have good, well thought out reasons *not* to be in character. ::g:: Any rating you'd like to write is ok with me.

More particularly (thoughts and suggestions you are free to include or not as it moves you):

Haven: I have developed a total obsession with the whole "Nathan can feel Audrey's touch" issue. I'm not particularly interested in just a PWP with these two, but would love something that looks at the UST and sensuality of Nathan secretly being able to feel any time Audrey touches him, or even after he's revealed to her that he can feel her, and it being *their* little secret and the new dimensions that it brings to their relationship.

I also <3 the idea of Nathan/Audrey/Duke as a threesome, and any plot or PWP potential there-in. :)

The Changeover: Mostly, I'd love to get a glimpse into what Laura and Sorry's life is like once they return to school after she's changed and the whole issue with Jacko is taken care of.

Greek Mythology: any sort of Dionysus-centric fic would be fabulous. :)

Warehouse 13: I love Pete/Myka of course, but I am also fascinated with the relationship between Myka and H.G.. (And I would never say no to Myka/H.G./Pete fic.)

Much love and thanks,

Koren

So. If I were to, say, do Merlin OT4 for my NaNo this year, what fics, ep reviews, art, and/or vids would you recommend I OD on to get in the right headspace?

I'm going to be working on some layout/coding things this evening, so if you happen by and the journal looks like utter crap, that's probably why. ;) Hopefully it'll be better by next weekend.

So... life's been just a little bit crazy. Or, really, more than a bit.

I don't even remember the last time I posted... which kind of sucks. In a nutshell, about the middle of last month, my mother-in-law died. It wasn't unexpected, she's been sick for a really, really long time, but there was much dealing with that, and my husband managed to come down with walking pneumonia at the same time and nearly had to go to the ER because he was coughing so much. He missed a week of school which he's trying to make up now, and there was the fourth of july weekend, and the memorial service, and another memorial service about 3 or 4 hours away that was a weekend trip we had to take, and the beginnings of going through her things (which mostly falls to my husband, his sister, and my bff (who was my MIL's sister), but I'm helping them some.) There was all the usual work things, and more training at work, and general trying to keep a "normal" life together (cooking, laundry, should-be-cleaning-but-I'm-going-to-sleep-now and etc.)... basically, I've been doing a LOT of reading/avoiding/sleeping/being exhausted lately. Before all that, well. There were some of my own health problems (starting to resolve themselves now, yay!) and the general stress and uncertainty that comes from living in a house not your own, in limited space, and without entirely reliable internet access. There's actually some more craziness going on right now, but I'm trying really, really hard not to think about it too much or get too involved in it if I can help it.

I'm working on life though, both online and off. At the moment, I'm in the midst of posting the entries for this year's [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang. I just needed a break for a minute, and thought I might as well do an update.

So... what's up with all of you? Any books or shows or movies I may have missed? (I haven't really been reading my flist or anything all year, either.)

So... i haven't posted in awhile, and I'm trying very hard not to freak the frak out about posting anywhere about anything. I am literally forcing myself to post right now, for three reasons:

First, to let y'all know that I haven't forgotten about [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang. I pretty much decided that since sign-ups are running until January I was going to let it sit over NaNo-month. Although I have tried to contact the mods of a couple of comms I want to pimp on, and haven't ever heard anything back, so...

Second, because I don't want to encourage the spiral of "I want to post, freak the heck out, don't post after all" to continue. I can't have that. It will not fit into my world.

Third, to wish all of y'all Happy Thanksgiving from those of us here in the states! Happy Turkey day! (even if the first of two of my Thanksgiving dinners is a pork roast instead. But whatever. :) )

Am doing NaNo. Am behind on NaNo.

Am fighting the crud off tooth and nail. :( So far winning, I think and hope the chicken soup on the stove helps, but am taking it really easy to help this all along.

Am working this week... not quite a full 40 hours, but enough that I'm exhausted. It is very *loud* and bright. Excedrine is my friend. So is coffee, so long as I have drugs for my tummy to counteract it.

Laptop is missing cord right now b/c it is in the shop. I BLOODY WELL HOPE THE PROBLEM IS THE CORD BECAUSE THEN THEY WILL SEND ME A NEW ONE AND I WILL HAVE MY BABY BACK AND ALL WILL BE WELL. I miss my computer like crazy.

Need to finish the fanmix for Star Trek Big Bang. (Am too tired/blech to bother typing in the LJ link.)

::hugs:: everybody in a non-infectious manner.

Apologies folks, just testing to see if I can forward date an entry. Move along, nothing to see. ;)

Help!?

Hi. My laptop and cord are acting up - I'm beginning to think it really is a cord issue. That said, I am talking to the company I bought it from to get a replacement, but I was hoping that maybe someone had a spare that might fit an Hewlett Packard DV9000? If so, and I could borrow it for awhile (or at the very least use it long enough to test my theory) that would be amazing beyond words. Thank you all!

Dear Yuletide Author,

Hi!

I am so excited! I would be pretty equally happy with any of my choices, so whichever you like best or get the best idea for would be awesome.

In general, I like 'shippy stuff, and witty banter, and have a particular love of thick and heavy UST (depending on the couple, and how much that fits their personality, of course.) My biggest sticking point/wish is that characters be in character or have good, well thought out reasons *not* to be in character. I like fics that delve into characterization - and even better if it's a third party observing the main characters thinking about how they interact with one another. I like comedy, and drama, but prefer if characters aren't hurt too terribly badly by the time things are over. Hurt/comfort is ok, so long as there really is comfort there to make it better. ::g:: Any rating you'd like to write is ok with me.

More particularly (thoughts and suggestions you are free to include or not as it moves you):

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: I'm a huge Bee/Lena 'shipper. I love Carmen as well and like Tibby ok. I am particularly curious about what their lives are like several years past the end of the series, or even what their lives are like once they have children of their own.

The Changeover: I'd love to know what else happens to Laura and Sorry (I do 'ship them) now that she's changed, and they're back to their lives as (not quite) normal.

Mythology: I have much love for Dionysus all over the place as well as Persephone. I ship Dionysus/Ariadne and think Theseus is a bit of a putz. I like everything from simple re-tellings to completely interpretive re-invention of mythology, so feel free to go nuts. ::g::

GI Joe: I love Scarlett/Snake Eyes, but see interesting potential for Scarlett (this one in particular) having a range of relationships with the different men on her team. Exploration of what those relationships are like and might be (or might become) would be amazing.

Above all - thank you so much for being my Yuletide author, and for taking the time to write me a present! I really do appreciate it!

Love,

Koren/CyberMathWitch/Rose

And [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang is up and running!

Due to an unfortunate mis-alignment of schedules, things will be a little rough around the edges for the next week or so while I get the rest of the code and things squared away, but the full rules are available now (*please* read them) and the sign-up posts are up.

All the pertinent information, including links to the sign-up posts can be found here.

I will have a post up soon with relevant banners, icons, and pimping information.

Thank you everyone! :)
cybermathwitch: (You wanna taste it?)
Holy frakking crap, you guys!

Less than a day since I started posting about [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang and I HAVE OVER 30 PEOPLE WATCHING THE COMM!!!!

::boggles::

I... don't think I was expecting that. Don't get me wrong, I'm **THRILLED**... just a bit overwhelmed. In a good way I think though.

(On top of this, things are swimming along quite nicely (if busily) with [livejournal.com profile] whedonfest, and the upcoming Gathering.)

But BUSY OMG!
cybermathwitch: (kara/lee face-off)
Mark your calendars, update your f-list, and pimp this out to all your friends...

Coming Soon:

To pimp the comm, please use the code below:

cybermathwitch: (kara/lee face-off)
First, there is now a comm for the Pilots Big Bang: [livejournal.com profile] pilotsbigbang There's nothing there yet (though I'm working on it) but I plan to go live with information, sign-ups, and so forth sometime late in the day on November 1.

Second: ANY GRAPHIC/LAYOUT DESIGNERS! I could use your help. It doesn't have to be detailed or extravagant, but I would love to have a Pilots theme or at the very least a background image up on the comm before it goes live. If anyone is willing and able to help with that, please email me at cybermathwitch@gmail.com.

Third: If anyone has any interest in being a co-mod for this endeavour, I'd be interested in hearing from you. Same email address as above. The person I thought might co-mod has just gotten an extra overtime cap approved for her job, so needless to say she's not available. :(
cybermathwitch: (Kahlan announcement)
Do I have news for you!

First:

SCARECROW AND MRS. KING OMG FLAILS LIKE A FLAIL-Y THING!!!! (In a nutshell, S&MK to be released on DVD next year.)

Second:

Once More With Glee - Joss Whedon is directing an episode of Glee later this season! No plot spoilers are involved in the article, it's brief, but a safe read.
