At the risk of everyone running screaming from my journal, I had to share that PBS, as part of it's pledge drive, is doing a Yanni concert tonight at 8pm CST. 

Now, before anyone starts making faces, I'm going to be pro-actively on the offense here. 

If you've actually listened to his music* and you don't like it, fine.  No problem here, we have different tastes and I'm cool with that.

If you're simply reacting to the *name* because of the running cultural jokes/bashing that's been going on for years - then don't bring it here.  It's not to everyone's taste, but it, like ANY OTHER MUSIC deserves at least a chance and the respect of actually being listened to before dismissal or mockage.

Well, now I've vented.  And I'm gonna go enjoy the show.

*(instrumental, mostly, and new-age-y to a degree (though just about any modern instrumental music that's not a score for something seems to get stuck with that label now days))

PS: Did they play his music at the Olympics in Greece? In that connection the name sounds vaguely familiar.

It's possible... I don't really remember? But he is Greek, so quite possibly. And thanks for the link! It sounds very cool (what little I got to hear in my brief visit just now) and I shall bookmark it for future reference!
