A Plea for Info...

Does anyone know how to customize the images on an LJ? As in, mood icon sets of your own making, backgrounds, and any place else one could add in decorations? I'm partially versed in HTML and CSS - enough that I can limp along and follow a plan w/ help from cheat sheets.

Making the graphics isn't a problem, either, I've got that down. I just need to know what my options are as to applying them.

Also, does anyone know, in plain english, how to create your own S2 LJ style?
