The Unpopular Fannish Opinions Meme

I think that Buffy should have ended at the end of season 3. While I generally agree that (based on technique) their best episodes were in later seasons, I really didn't like where the show went and how they did it past that point.

I didn't actively dislike Dr. Horrible - but I didn't really like it much, either.

I love So You Think You Can Dance and America's Next Top Model, as well as several of the early years of The Real World

I adored Jonas on SG1.

I love baby!fic and kid!fic.

I hate portmanteaus in fandom. They make me twitchy beyond belief. I did like the times that fandom had nicknames for different shipper groups though (like in the Roswell fandom, and the very clever "ship" names at FictionAlley).

I like Twilight. I'm on Team Alice though.

I liked John Doggett on X-Files.

I loved seasons 9 and 10 of SG1.

I like Stargate: Atlantis better than Stargate: SG1.

I can't stand Sam/Jack, and adore Sam/Daniel.

I don't have any use for Zhaan.

While I often write EWE fic, I happen to love the Epilogue at the end of Deathly Hallows.

I love the direction the Anita Blake books have gone and Incubus Dreams is my favorite.

I have watched and am pretty decently versed in Babylon 5, but I have real trouble dealing with the overly done style of it. I know that J Michael Straczynski did it on purpose to try to emulate an operatic style, but it bugs me.

I like Eliza Dushku, quite a bit, but I don't think she was the best choice for the lead in Dollhouse. (I have a whole rationale behind that but it would be it's own journal post I think.)

I can't fathom Kirk/McCoy

I think that Joss Whedon is a very, very good creator/writer/director, but I don't think he's head and shoulders above anyone else working in television right now. There are several other people in those categories that I like just as well or better.

I'm really excited about and looking forward to the new Sherlock Holmes. (I wouldn't have thought that would've been an unpopular opinion, but given conversations I've read recently apparently it is.)

I really like Warehouse 13 so far.

I agree with several of these.

- Really, really not a fan of Dr. Horrible. Couldn't make it past the first song, actually.
- Portmanteaus are signs of the apocalypse.
- Doggett was cool (but Reyes was cooler, IMO).
- I know exactly what you mean about B5's style. Oy.
- I have never understood the Joss Whedon love.

And wow, a real live Sam/Daniel shipper! ;) I have a feeling I would've shipped them if I had gotten into the show before the fannish juggernaut of Sam/Jack was rolling.

I like baby/kidfic if it is really, really well-done, and if the focus is more on the character(s) who had the kid than the kid itself. (And, for some reason, my hard drive is currently awash in half-finished B5 kidfic, so I guess I can't claim to hate it as much as I used to. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS DEVELOPMENT.)

GOD, I am excited for Sherlock Holmes. I am not getting my panties into a twist about how fantastically noncanon it is, even.

I have removed my canon panties for this film.

(Canon Holmes was a bit of an emo drug addict asshole, though. I like how this Holmes is a bitchindicular drug addict lovable asshole.)

I hate smoosh ship names INTENSELY and they're even worse in soaps where you get things like "Jam" for Sam and Jason but I do rather like "Conseekadores" for Seeker.
I like Sam/Daniel better than Sam/Jack but I honestly don't see a ship in this show anyway
I think that Joss Whedon's great but he's not GOD. He is more personable than a lot of the other guys and I think that's why everyone tends to deify him.
As for the new Sherlock Holmes it looked really awesome on paper and then I saw the trailer and I dunno anymore...
