First of all - why in the
bloody hell aren't they coming to Nashville on the tour!?!? I'm going to cry! ::pouts, alot::
Second of all, for some critique (I think I've got all the duets, and the solos that stood out to me):
I didn't get to see the girls' Bollywood number until this morning (thank you YouTube, and thank you whoever posted it), but I really loved it. I have an irrational love of Indian dance, so I am whole-heartedly biased. I wish that it had been a bit easier to see both overall and individuals, but I'm blaming at least part of that on the whole YouTube thing and missing it on the big TV. This is why I keep insisting to my husband that we need a Tivo.Kayla/Evan: Ok. Here's the thing. I do not get why everyone (ie, the judges) are so in love with Kayla. She's very good, obviously, but I don't understand the constant raving. To me, she often seems to blend into the background, even when she's dancing a very vibrant number. She doesn't draw my eye. I do really like Evan, but the waltz doesn't show his talent off to full advantage, and the whole routine was kind of "meh" for me.Brandon: Brandon's style of dance here is too flail-y for my taste. Several of the dancers strike me this way, too. I'm not a dancer myself, so I'm working purely from the "do I enjoy watching this?" standpoint. And I didn't enjoy watching it. The arm movements distracted me, rather than adding to the overall picture.
Jeanette/Ade: I liked it. Which is most of what I can say about it.Kupono: Loved it. It was just about a perfect fit for him, and somehow reconciles that divide he sometimes has between masculine and feminine dancing. Did I mention I loved it?Jeanine/Jason: Umm... I think I need some alone time. ::swoons:: This has to be one of the hottest routines I've ever seen. Yummy. (I admit to a pre-existing adoration of Jeanine that may have partially colored my judgement.) I sort of wondered last week why they chose to keep Jason, but now I see the error of my earlier views. ;) The above feelings on the tour not being in Nashville? STRONGLY colored by wanting to see this performed live! It was just... amazingly beautiful. And hot. Really hot. I think I mentioned that, but it bears repeating.Randi/Kupono: Erm. No. Just no. This did not work for me. (Neither did Randi's solo, come to think of it.)
Melissa/Brandon: I apparently didn't watch the same routine that the judges did. I didn't like it, I thought the lifts were pretty, but overall it felt like a bunch of not-really-connected elements. I really like Melissa, and loved her costume, but not the routine as a whole. Jeanine: I could watch this woman dance all day. Really. Oh, and I actually called in last night and voted! Go me!The boy's group dance was pretty good, though I felt sorry for Evan. Poor thing. He is a white boy like whoa.I liked this week's Warehouse 13, HawthoRNe, and In Plain Sight (though I'm disturbed by the glass of wine in front of Jinx at the end. I think this was probably a prop error, since everyone was freakin' sitting there and not saying anything about it, but it was a pretty *big* mistake (as nit-picky things go) and I wagged a disappointed finger in their general direction.)
And now I'm off to make icons, cause
seekerstillness,
richlan_ic, and
str_icontest are all due tomorrow. I think. I hope, anyway.
