First - [livejournal.com profile] comedownstairs  in particular, as well as everyone else I know who is loving on the New Trek - you must watch this: http://arefadedaway.livejournal.com/295080.html  (I'll give you a hint - it involves New Trek and a Glee cover.)

I am a geek *AND* a gleek!  Whee!

Second - if y'all aren't watching Legend of the Seeker yet, you must do so.  It's all on Hulu.  You have no excuse.  Go watch!  It is pretty and 'shippy and violent and sexy and did I mention pretty?  (My husband is particularly in love with the fight choreography.)  Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] serendipityxxi  for turning me on to it. :)

Third: Have a weekly dose of Burn Notice and Royal Pains (both of which should also be coming to a Hulu near you, soon.) I am reserving judgment on BN until I have seen more, though so far, so good, and I LOVE ROYAL PAINS.  Hank can be my MD anytime.  Eye candy aside, the dialogue is quick and clever, and I like all the characters we've been introduced to thus far.  (Except the ones you're not supposed to like, of course.)  [info]icepixie, you might want to check it out - it's a little bit like Northern Exposure, but with fewer moose (mooses?).  Also, it and Burn Notice both scream "SUMMER" to me - probably residuals from sitting up late watching Silk Stalkings (another great beach-themed show) on summer nights when I was in junior high.

I like Mental on Fox as well, but am less enthusiastic about it than the above two shows.

I've also been watching So You Think You Can Dance, both because I have a huge crush on Cat and because I am a dance junkie.  But I think I like the audition/Vegas segments better than the actual competition portions.  Is that weird?  I don't know who I'm pulling for yet.

And lastly a meme, stolen from [info]i_am_girlfriday :

The problem with LiveJournal is that we think we're close, but really, we know nothing about each other.

So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me, something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about, or something you've always been curious about but have never asked, or something completely silly that you'd like me to answer for kicks. No limits on the range of questions, either: ask me anything you want to know about, whether it's a fannish opinion or a question about a fic of mine or trivia about my real life or my thoughts on events in the offline world.

Okay, I have to say it: I get K/S, I really do. But I really only ship them with the original series. For the reboot, I'm actually pretty happy with Spuhura...and *cough* Kirk/McCoy.

No offense to anyone who likes K/S2.

I like Spock/Uhura just fine, and I have absolutely no feel/attraction to Kirk/McCoy *at* *all*. I haven't decided if Kirk and Spock are the Kirk/Spock kind of soul mates or the Kirk&Spock king of soul mates (but I definitely think they're soul mates of some sort) - and I haven't discounted the possibility of trio-shipping Kirk/Spock/Uhura.

Another Legend of the Seeker fan, groovy. I have been rather obsessed with the show lately. I gobbled all the episodes and started writing fic and am reading the books it's based on. When I fall, I fall hard.

As for the meme, this is kind of a silly question:
If you could take only three things with you to a deserted island for a year (for entertainment purposes), what would you take and why?

If the island had electricity:

1. My laptop, a really *REALLY* complicated, involved and *long* knitting project, and an Amazon Kindle with all my favorite books, series, and my "to-read" queue from goodreads pre-loaded. (I don't have one, but I want one)

If there's no electricity, I'd keep the knitting project as above, then add a REALLY big notebook (with a large pack of pens/pencils), and possibly my flute so that I had some kind of music along with me.

My questions)

I feel like I have met you before. Did you grow up in Nashville? Have our paths crossed before?

I grew up in Dickson, which is just outside of Nashville. Then I moved to Murfreesboro. I've never actually lived in Nashville.

I did band in high school. Where did you go to school?

Heehee are you through with s1 Seeker entirely now? Fav epis? I am so obssessive about this show it's really not even funny :)

Ahhh Silk Stalkings! I own S1-4 on DVD but only ever watch certain epis anymore. I loved it so much as a teen though :) USA really is the quintessential 'summer' tv station. I'm really excited for Psych to come back but that's not til August.

Thus far, I've seen all but the second to last ep and the one right before that (Fever and ?) - but I did skip ahead and watched "Reckoning" because I was already spoiled and wanted to see how that worked out.

I am intrigued about how (or if) that will change how Richard and Kahlan interact, and I also have a plot bunny I kind of want to write, except it's total pr0n and I'm trying to work up the nerve to do so.

Fever and Sanctuary I think, both were good but you'll be hardpressed to find an epi I didn't think was good *L* (Well maybe Bounty and Elixir but those have their good bits too!) My favourites for the season have to be Listener, Revenant and Cursed I think :)

as for Reckoning and whether the magical consequences will come back into play I think that could be interesting (I totally didn't think we'd get away with the same ending as book 1 *L* ) but they didn't even mention it at the end of the epi so I'm doubtful they're going to bring it back up. More fodder for playing with in fic though :)

Ooooh u should write the bunny and submit it to the sword of lies smutathon!

http://community.livejournal.com/sword_of_lies/13513.html

Seriously Seeker fandom is currently the crackiest of fandoms! In the last one there was Kahlan/Shar the Nightwisp and it was HILARIOUS! :) The whole Sword of Lies comm is just awesome actually :)

I logged on to Hulu and checked out Legend of the Seekr at your recommendation.

And, yeah, it was pretty good.

Am I the only one who suppressed the urge to yell "By the power of Greyskull..." at a certain point, though? You know which one I mean....
