That's going to become my mantra. If I just refuse to believe it, then it won't be real.
I think that's what's kept me even slightly upbeat the last few days - of course, I also feel like a hipocrite. As usual, as is my pattern, even with things that are of great importance to me, like Farscape, I procrastinate. So I was sitting her tonight, finally starting to write my letters, and then I go on my LJ and find out that it's official and non-reversible. ::virtually starts shredding paper and throws it up into the air:: What's the point?
So yeah. You know, I can get Roswell and Sentinel from friends and tape trees. Slightly worse copies, but it'll do. Watch me. Time to actually *do* something. If I'm a fan, then I'm gonna goddamn be a fan. I refuse to watch SciFi again, with the sole exception of watching the final episodes of Farscape, not in a show of support of SciFi, but because to do anything less would be disrespectful to what these people have done and accomplished. And yes, of course because I bloody well want to see it. But that's it.
That aside, I'm not letting my fandom for it die. Elf's already mentioned a "how it should have been" fic archive, and Elf, sweetie, I'm all on board that train. Web coding/design/graphics, ideas, fic, anything you need, you've got from me as much as I can provide it. Any Scaper/'Shipper gathering I can possibly get to, I'm there. I'm still going to support the show in any and every way I can. I love these people, these stories, and everyone who makes them happen, down to the last coffee-getting intern on the set.
And I can't/won't let this color my fandom for other shows. Or at least I really don't want to. I've gotten too much joy from it to give up on it, you know?
They requested a wake at the chat, and I say we give them one. Not that I'm saying give up mind you, because I'm still *all* for trying to get someone else to pick it up. I certainly don't want it to die forever. But, yeah, lets give them the wake they deserve.
