I can kinda almost see it - but not quite in the situation they're in.
Yeah, them doing anything while she's still the president and he's the military commander is probably not the best idea. But the UST could set the room on fire, and both actors, particularly EJO, have said in various interviews that they play up the chemistry/attraction between the two of them. Knowing RDM, probably they'll get together, be happy for a while, and then something will happen that CUTS MY HEART OUT AND STOMPS ON IT. ;)
It's been a while since I read in the BSG fandom, so my recs are less numerous than I thought they would be. The main archive is here (it's in some sort of relationship with adama_roslin). I remember Charis, Karihan, and Kimbari as being particularly good.
Kimbari's Triangle was one of the first BSG fics I read, and I still love it to death. It's incredibly AU--like, Bill and Laura meet before he ever marries Caroline AU--but don't let that stop you.
I also want to ship Boomer/Helo, but I'm not sure I want *THAT* much pain and angst in my world.
Oh, God. Ow. OW. God. *winces* Season two will KILL YOU DEAD.
