Feb. 4th, 2004 07:58 amThe general consensus in regards to my LJ whinging (pretty new word. yay!) is that I should just get my happy ass back online.
Since my computer activities at work have been curtailed to such a great degree (the office is cracking down on personal emails, etc), I'm going to have to commandeer the computer at home more often. We *really* need to get another computer that's sea-worthy, to coin a phrase. I have my laptop there, and my handheld, but neither one have internet connectivity since we're using Comcast broadband and the laptop is from '98 and doesn't have a network card. Hell, the laptop doesn't even have *Word* on it - just Wordpad and Microsoft Works, because it's the edition before Works adopted Word as it's word-processing program.
Yeesh.
(In case you're wondering, the laptop's sole purpose at this point is to read and write fic on, and as soon as I get a keyboard for my Clie, it probably won't even be useful for that anymore.)
My life at this point is going pretty well, I think - I'm taking the second half of today off so that I can a. take the cats for a *LONG* overdue vet visit, b. call all (and I do mean all) my various drs and make appts with them for the next couple of months, c. run to the store, and d. call and get my prescriptions refilled. Basically, all the things I have trouble doing while I'm at work because they require long distance phone calls. Then I have coven class tonight, and hopefully a few more hours of Firefly.
I'm completely and utterly in love and awe of Firefly.
Joss Whedon, who was already pretty damn high on my list of people I think are awesome, has risen in the ranks so that he's now tied w/ Kemper and company. This stuff is beautiful, hilarious, funny, disturbing, and horrific, and usually it's three or four of those things all at once.
I've seen all but three eps (Heart of Gold, The Message, and Objects in Space are what are left) and so far, there hasn't been a bad one of them in the bunch. I'm sure that's due in part to how short a run it had, because inevitably there's going to be a truly awful ep, (witness Jeremiah Crichton and Bad Eggs), but so far, this one hasn't had any. ::knocks on wood::
I think it's hilarious that several people have finally discovered buffy, particularly when I'm head-deep in several fandoms *not* Buffy. (Not that I've stopped liking buffy, cause I haven't. I'm just all about the HP, LotR, and Firefly right now. ;) )
I really must ramble more later about all of these things - and Ang, I'm about to go friend you, Ann, you *HAVE* to get an LJ, and you should both be receiving emails soon. Happy birthday Dani, and Happy LJ-anniversary-day Cristin.
Huggles to all.
