Yes, yes I have beaten IE into submission. I have *GOT* to get Firefox. Gah.

Not thrilled with the bloody emmys. Well, ok, I lie - I'm ecstatic that Naveen and Terry got noms, and that there were many lots of sci-fi show noms in general. The three issues I have with it are a. HOW THE BLOODY FRELL DOES PKW ONLY GET ONE NOM? Come *on* people - even if it didn't have the "best" prosthetics come Emmy night, how does it not even get NOMINATED? (Only one category among many that they got robbed on.) b. 93 nominations? I know that HBO does good stuff, even if I don't have the channel and don't get to watch the shows - but dude! That's almost as many as two network stations put together! One category has nothing *BUT* HBO movies in it. ::boggles:: c. The lack of fictional TV show categories. Reality TV has at least two different category *types* for best show. But they don't divide Drama into more than one category. Which is ridiculous, IMO. Thank god Desperate Housewives is considered a comedy.

So, in other news (ie, life as I know it - mundanely): serious financial issues. Several checks decided to dress-up as red rubber balls. ::headdesk:: Luckily, Brian worked some this week w/ Jim on a woman's house (doing dry-wall) and got paid. (I don't get paid 'til *next* friday.) Lemme put it this way - I went on Amazon yesterday and tried to cancel my pre-order HBP. 'Cause I couldn't afford it. (It was too late though.)

I adore my future father-in-law. Brian called him to see if we could have/borrow $20 so that I could get gas to go to work (the tank is currently in the lite-bright "empty" status). He said ok, and came over when he was done with work. Instead of pulling out a 20, he brought us $100. No, really. He said that part of it was the gas money, part of it was because he hadn't actually gotten us a hand-fasting/betrothal present yet (not that we'd actually asked anyone for anything, cause we hadn't), and that the rest was because he remembered what it was like starting out and being really, really, really broke.

Suffice it to say, I now have enough to deposit into the bank that it'll take care of the overdrafts, the fuck-you-fees *from* the overdrafts, and enough in the black so that when Amazon charges me for the book that it'll go through w/o a problem (I think). Brian's got one more check that needs to be cashed, which should take care of gas money middle of next week when I need it, and groceries. (We have food in the house - it's just the little odds and ends like oh, say, milk to *make* the mac and cheese we have several boxes of that was gonna be tricky. This way we don't have to worry about that.)
