Studio 60 - ep 01x01: Pilot

ZOMG SO MUCH LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, while they aren't Sam and Josh, Danny and Matt are as good, just different. SO much chemistry there in numerous ways. Throw in Jordan, who I was expecting to be luke-warm about but adore beyond words and you have a lovely verbal triangle of fun. (And it's possible I have a new OT3. Maybe. Kinda. Depends on how it goes. Matt and Danny are certainly a new OTP.)

But characters aside (and I'm sure there will be more characters for me to squee over the more I see) what really got me? As usual for Aaron Sorkin's work - the message. And the delivery of said message. The idea that TV is being lobotomized, well, yeah. SO much. Going up against Standards and Practices? My idea of fun. Censorship is my ditch, and they're tackling it head on. ::dances for joy::

Best moments:

1. Jordan facing off against Jack. Any. Time. She's just so cool, so collected, and sweet, while totally kicking him in the ass about it.

2. Matt going off and barging in to defend Danny. Even though he blew it.

3. The face-off in the control room. Cal is my hero.

4. Wes's speech. So true, so much what many TV fans have been ranting/lamenting for years now and yay!

5. Matt and Danny going on stage, with "Under Pressure" backing. Great cinematography and sound there.

It's not quite West Wing, and I don't think I'm going to be quite as in love with quite as much of the characters as I was with WW, but I do love, and want to see more. Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme are my heroes.
